The Child at Heart Art Gallery opened in July 2001 in historic downtown Newburyport Massachusetts. The Gallery offers a wide variety of art suitable for children’s environments, from original children’s book illustrations to whimsical prints. Though created for children, the appeal is ageless.

Mary and Paul McDonough (proprietors, owners, window washers, etceteras) founded the business after 30 (or so) years of corporate responsibilities (Paul - mostly marketing and market research) and early childhood development (Mary - Montessori education, Headstart, children’s librarian; Mary & Paul (parenthood)). The Gallery location marks their 6th (or is it 7th) state of residence. The Gallery itself, more importantly, reflects a combination of avocation and vocation; and offers a terrific opportunity to grow and learn. (Did we mention that we have two grown daughters and one perfectly gifted granddaughter?)

Newburyport is a vibrant, arts-oriented community tucked in the Northeast corner of Massachusetts on Merrimac River. The Gallery is a member of the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce (a good source for information on town events), and is an active participant in the ArtWalk / Newburyport program.
